Hobbies
When I am not writing code, I am usually making something with my hands. Here is what keeps me busy.
Flower Farming
Flower farming has turned into one of the most therapeutic parts of my life. There is something grounding about working the soil, planning beds, and watching a season come up out of the ground. It is the slow, patient counterweight to a job spent in front of screens.
Animated Light Shows
I design and run animated light shows, sequencing music to thousands of individually controllable lights. It blends the programming and electronics I love with a result the whole neighborhood can enjoy.
3D Printing
My 3D printers rarely sit idle. I print functional parts for other projects, custom mounts and brackets, replacement pieces, and the occasional fun build. It is the fastest way I know to turn an idea into a real object.
Ham Radio
I am a licensed amateur radio operator. Ham radio scratches the itch of understanding how things work all the way down to the signal, and it is a reminder that you can still reach people directly without the internet in the middle.
KQ4VGMArduino & Robotics
I tinker constantly with Arduino, microcontrollers, sensors, and small robotics builds. A lot of my other hobbies, from the light shows to the garden automation, lean on the electronics and code I get to play with here.
Gardening, Landscaping & Turf
I spend a good amount of time on gardening, landscaping, and turf management around the property. Healthy soil, a sharp lawn, and a well planned landscape are their own kind of long running project, and I enjoy every part of it.
